Sugar snap peas, also known as snap peas, are a cultivar group of edible-podded peas that differ from snow peas in that their pods are round as opposed to flat. At maturity, the sugar snap pea grows to around 4–8 cm in length. It contains 3 to 8 peas per pod.
Sugar snap peas are a cross between snow peas and garden peas. The whole pea is eaten and has a crunchy texture that varies in sweet flavor. Sugar snap peas have a tough string at the seams of the pods that need to be removed before being eaten raw or cook.
